There are an estimated 31,000 people living in condition of modern slavery in Israel (GSI 2018). Women from Eastern Europe, China and Ghana, as well as Eritream men and women are subjected to sex trafficking in Israel. People are often lured through the promise of seemingly legitimate jobs, only to be subjected to commercial sexual exploitation upon arrival.
CT travelled to Israel believing she would be undertaking cleaning work. However, upon arrival she was forced in to prostitution, subjected to physical and sexual abuse dailyI arrived in Israel at age 18 to work in cleaning. They sent me to work in prostitution, 18 hours a day. The allotment was 30 customers a day. Not less. If I received even one client fewer, they would beat me, but in a way that I wouldn’t have signs, because clients don’t like to see a woman who has bruises on her.
